Our library just started a Library of Things collection, and I was assigned to help promote the collection. So to help advertise the new collection while also making it stand out from other libraries, I designed an ad campaign to help generate interest. I like dressing up and I think old photos are always interesting or funny, which usually provides great audience engagement. I originally thought about doing a “Guess what we DON’T have?” video, where people guess the one of three choices–two things would be from our collection, one wouldn’t be. That seemed too complicated, but that got me thinking about GAME SHOWS!! So I settled on this design.

The response was immediate, reservations for items started right away, and interest was so high that the local paper ran a story on the collection, even though a neighboring library already has a longer running Library of Things.

Setup was really easy. Just found a colored corner, and hung up some squares. Tried to go for a 70’s color palette. Used a corner in the kids library because I knew it would give depth and make it look like an actual gameshow set, as opposed to just a static flat wall.

Really simple but really eye-catching!
