Lego Challenge–Make a Megafig

My kiddos always love collecting the most interesting minifigs for their builds. For some kids, it’s the first thing that they go for. So this challenge kinda celebrates minifigs by trying to duplicate them by making them as BIG as you can!

Don’t think there’s a whole lot of setup for this one, you just need to collect some unique minifigs. They sell individual minifigs for about $5 apiece, so I would recommend picking up some extra people. Kids love the minifigs, so sprucing up your collection isn’t a bad idea in general. If you can’t do that, just make sure that the minifigs you do have are cohesive and whole and have all their parts, since kids like to pull them all apart.

So after going over rules, I told my kiddos that they would be building megafigs! To start, they could only pick one minfig to duplicate, so I had everyone pick randomly from a bucket. Once everyone had one, you could trade or go back to the bucket and find a different one. Maybe about half went back to the bucket, the other half were fine with what they got.

This is another one that kinda just blew me away with what kids were able to make. There was a lot of parental help for this one, but I think that’s totally fine and part of the experience. It’s great to see parents (dads especially) help out.

This project also worked on sculpting, which is a pretty advance skill. It’s one thing to build from a kit, but completely another to build blind from a concept and try to replicate it.

So I feel this one went so well, this is definitely one I’m going to throw into my regular rotation. It’s always a good sign when I have TOO MANY examples of how kids and families knocked it out of the park and really nailed the challenge.
