“I Chews You” Pop-Up Shark Valentine

I don’t necessarily like doing crafts, so when I do them, I try to make them fun, engaging, and something you wouldn’t normally do, all while trying to make them recyclable. So I found this simple pop-up design, drew a shark, and added a pun–perfect valentine’s day card.

It’s pretty simple–since it’s a pop up, you’re going to want to print everything on card stock for the best results. Color everything first because it will be hard once everything is glued in place. The card part is left alone, just folded in half, like you know, a card 😛 The shark gets cut out completely, but also folded in half lengthwise, making sure that the design is on the outside of the fold. Check the example if you’re confused.

From there you fold the big rectangular flap and cut out the dotted triangle. Then place your shark in your card, making sure that both folds meet up. That way, when the card completely folds up, nothing gets crushed.

From there you want to glue down your flaps, but glue it down in a V-Shape. That way, the shark will stand up once the card is open. You probably want to glue it down towards the top of the card, so that when it folds in, very little of the shark is sticking out.

Once it’s dry, you might want to reinforce the flaps with some tape, my shark started to become torn after opening it a lot.

Simple but cute. Hope you like it!
