Lego Challenge–Duplo Domination!

My Dinosaur Challenge from last time inspired this latest integration of different toys. I saw this on the Internet a long time ago–Duplos and Legos can be used together! This literally blew my kids’ minds!

So after going over rules, I told my kiddos that we would be doing a free build, BUT that they just had to integrate Duplos in some way. As a joke, I said it was like a cooking show, and Duplos were the “Secret Ingredient.”

We have a toy table in the Kids Library that switches out once a month or so, so I had extra Duplos just lying around. So for me, it was no extra expense which is always great. All I did differently was just separate out the best Duplos for each table–made sure that each table had an evenish amount of Duplo animals, minifigs and bricks, since I don’t have as many Duplos as I do Legos.

This one went great, and everyone got into it on some level! A lot like the Dinosaur Challenge, the younger kiddos could do this one at their own pace, while my older kiddos could get into it a bit more and really find interesting ways to integrate the two types of bricks.

The only thing to remember is that not EVERY Duplo and Lego will play nice with each other, so most of my help for this one was finding ways to marry the two bricks for anyone that was having trouble. But problems were rare.

I’ll definitely be adding this one into the rotation!
