Lego Challenge–Interactive Store Challenge

Oddly enough, this one came to me in a dream, not sure why haha. But one of my favorite ways to share at the end of Lego Club is for kids to interact with each others’ builds, like when we’ve done our Lego Pinball challenge or our Lego Mini-Golf challenge or our Lego Ice Slide challenge. Talking about what you built is fun, but sometimes it’s also good to just experience what someone else built.

So after going over rules, told my kiddos that we would be making stores. You could make any kind of store or shop you wanted, it just had to have some sort of interactive element to it. So I showed them my two examples. Like at the flower store you could pick your own flower. And at the sandwich shop, you could make your own sandwich!

I think most people did this challenge, there were a lot of car stores and weapon stores which is fine. The term “interactive” might have tripped some people up too, so I would stress that something should be able to move or do something to make it interactive for someone seeing this for the first time. I’ll share some of the more unique ideas down below. We did this challenge around Christmas, and so a kid made her own tree and made an “Ornament Store” where everyone could put something on the tree! Very cool!

Before sharing I had everyone that made a shop fill out a slip, so snuck some writing in there too. But more importantly, it was just a lot easier to see what the store was and how it could be interacted with. I attach my nametag file at the end so you can use it.

When we shared, kids could go around and “shop” at all the different stores and play with each others’ builds, so a different way to share at the end which I like.

Some of my newer kiddos seemed confused about sharing at the end, so you might want to go over that and explain that instead of sharing as a group, you would go around to each others’ builds and share that way.

I liked the interactive element to this one, so hope your kiddos like this one too. Here’s my nametag file:
